Pants for My Little Man

Hello.

It seams as though I am always sewing for my girls
so it was about time I made something for my little fella.
He was in desperate need for some pants that weren't too short, so I made him these.

I used this pattern from Happy Homemade Vol 2.
Even though they may be a girls pattern they totally suit a boy too.

I added some front pockets using Dana's Kids Pants Pattern.
I wish I had attached the front pockets a little higher...oh well, next time.

I lined the pockets with some flannette fabric.

And now for some cute pics of my guy in his new pants.
 Love Him ♥

A $3 Skirt and More Bargain Finds

Hello.

I wanted to share some of the great op shop finds I have made over the last couple of weeks.
This skirt would have to be one of my favourite things.

Just check out this pocket. I just love it!
I am going to try to copy it on one of the next skirts I make.
It has lovely ribbon edging around the pocket and such pretty embroidery around the bottom.

 A pretty skirt for $3

Then I found a cool boys shirt.

Not bad for $3

For the first time I searched out sewing patterns at my local op shop and I found these ones.
I got the 3 patterns for $2
The PJ's (on the left) is size 2 and will perfectly suit my little one for next summer.
The skirt pattern is size 6. I don't have any one to fit it yet but I just LOVED it and couldn't not buy it.

This t-shirt pattern I bought to use as a standard t-shirt. It is size 4-5-6
so I will get some use out of it with my 4 & 5 year old.

That's it for today.
I'll be sure to share any other finds from my op shop adventures soon.

Aprons Galore

Hello.

Yesterday  had in mind to finish a cute little outfit I had started on Friday
but I got persuaded by my 3.5 year old to make her an apron to match her Dads.

Once I had done that my 10 year old wanted one and then I just had to make one for my 5 year old son too.

This was the result.

I traced an existing kids apron we had to make the pattern.

I decided to make a tie around the neck and at the back so these apron can grow with my kids.
As you can see the same size apron fits all 3 kids, it just differs in length.

The love heart apron has 2 loveheart pockets,
the star apron has a rectangular pocket and
the stripey apron has one large rectangular pocket that I divided into 3.

Hopefully I'll get a chance in the next day or two to complete
my little baby outfit I started on Friday.

I really am addicted to sewing you know, I just can't get it out of my mind!!!
I know most of you can relate :)

Boys Big Bum Baby Pants

Hello.

My son's Kindy teacher asked the other day if I could make her something for her little grandson.
I didn't have many baby boys patterns to choose from.  I decided to make her a pair of pants using my

This is a great pattern that can be used for boys & girls.

I made a couple of matching bibs to complete the outfit :-)

Ben & Mia Pants

Hello.

I bought 3 PDF patterns from Lily Bird Studio, including the "Ben & Mia Pants".
I made a pair for my 4 year old son.

Front with Pockets

Back

This is such a great pattern, as are all I purchase from
Lily Bird Studio. They are so comprehensive. The pattern was emailed so quickly and has detailed instructions of every step. This pattern actually had 49 pages so I just printed out the pattern pieces and just referenced from the computer. Saved heaps of paper and ink this way :-)

I decided they were quite a dressy style pant and they would look great with a little tie so I made one using this tutorial from See Kate Sew.

I slightly altered the design and made it adjustable using 4 press studs on the back. I actually don't think I followed the directions/pattern properly because my tie was not long enough
to fold over the neck piece as the tutorial explains.
I just folded the top of the tie over the neck piece and stitched it closed and added a piece around the top to give the illusion it had been tied.

Now I just need a special occasion for him to wear them :-)

Boys Shorts from My Japanese Pattern Book

Hey everyone.
Last night I made my boy a new pair of shorts. They have back and side pockets and a fake fly. I made the shorts out of large black and white gingham with small black and white gingham for the pockets and fly.

They were very quick and easy. I did have one issue though and that was with the fly. I looked and looked at the diagram and couldn't work out how I was supposed to make a cut in the fabric underneath the fly as it had already been sewn down.

Note the red circle.

If anyone can read Japanese you may be able to shed some light on what it says to do.

Anyway, I had to ignore the diagram for this little bit and just do it the way I thought it would work. And I'm pleased to say that it all worked out.  I was supposed to add 5cm to the pattern for the hem but I like shorts a little longer on my boy so I added 8cm for the extra length.

I had them all finished but my boy was already asleep so I put the elastic in and waited until morning to get the perfect fit. When the elastic was sewn up, they were ready to be worn to school.

He was happy and so was I.
:-)
