Two cute Little Tops

Hello.

I made a couple of little tops the other day using one of my Japanese Pattern Books.
The brown top was made from a doona cover I picked up from the op-shop for $1

It is such nice fabric, with a little silky shine to it.

I used this pattern but decided not to add the ruffle to the sleeves,
instead adding some elastic.

I made the second top for my daughter to wear for her school photos.
This one I made plain red using quilting cotton and just added some black buttons and ribbon.

I'm sure I will make a few more of these tops.
They are just sooo sweet!

My inspiration has been discarded

Hello.

I have been practising my embroidery skills and I was very pleased with my last result.

I had plans to use them on a little top I had made from calico
or at least on some bottoms I wanted to make to match.

I finished the top and edged 'adore' embroidery with ric rac and sewd it on to the top.
Well it looked slightly ridiculous,  so I changed my mind and decided to unpick it and use it on some pants, maybe as a pocket.

Then I left it for a week or so.

When I finally finished this project I decided not to use it at all.
I completed the outfit with a ruffle skirt made from seersucker gingham.

I think the outfit has a wholesome feel to it.

So does anyone have any suggestions what I can use my embroidery for?
I'd love to hear your ideas.

♥♥♥

On a separate note, I reached a milestone today, exactly 16,000 views of my blog.
I'm sure it is not much compared to most of you all in blogland but I can't believe there have been that many people interested in seeing

"what i made today"

Thanks everyone for making it a good day :-)

Cute little fly dress

Hello.

I purchased this really cute knit fabric the other day from the remnant box for $5
and I had the perfect project in mind for it.

The red trim across the top looks much brighter in this picture
but it almost exactly matches the flies eyes in real life.
I have since added a black and red loveheart lace to the top of the red trim.
I used the same lace as the tie on the jacket I made to match the dress.

I used this pattern from one of my favourite Japanese pattern books.

See the similarity?
The colour is almost the same, just the subject of the print has a slight variation :-)
I don't usually like flies, but I'm loving these ones.

The back is simple and sweet.
I just need to attach the hook and eye closure and it is complete.

I made this little jacket using my Japanese pattern book.
It was a pattern for a bolero, I just extended the length by about 4 inches.

Tartan Dress for School

Hello.

I completed another dress for my daughter for school.
I think this should do her for the winter now.

I used the same pattern as the one I used for her birthday dress.

This fabric probably works a little better for this dress
as you can see the details like the pockets, collar and center pleat a little clearer.

Pants for My Little Man

Hello.

It seams as though I am always sewing for my girls
so it was about time I made something for my little fella.
He was in desperate need for some pants that weren't too short, so I made him these.

I used this pattern from Happy Homemade Vol 2.
Even though they may be a girls pattern they totally suit a boy too.

I added some front pockets using Dana's Kids Pants Pattern.
I wish I had attached the front pockets a little higher...oh well, next time.

I lined the pockets with some flannette fabric.

And now for some cute pics of my guy in his new pants.
 Love Him ♥

Adorable Autumn Dress

Hello.

My daughter is turning 4 next Tuesday and to celebrate she is having a party,
and of course a new birthday dress was needed.

I used this pattern from my new Japanese pattern book.

It's hard to see with this fabric but the front has a simple pleat at the center.
It also has two front pockets and a cute collar.

I love the way the dress buttons up the back.

I used these gorgeous vintage buttons I had purchased off etsy quite a while ago.
They matched perfectly.

She has the dress and now has to wait for the party.
